Tazzy Talk 10 Cairns

Tazzie Talk 10!!!!
I have just had a really good time in Cairns. We went to 2 islands, on a really cool train, the Sky Rail, the port Douglas market and Ellis Beach.
Green Island
Green Island, beautiful. Before we had gotten off the boat we had already seen a turtle. As soon as we got on to the beach I got into my bathers and jumped into the really warm water.  It was not very long before we saw our first fish a huge GT came swimming past.

When we got to the corals lots of little colourful fish came swimming past. I really liked the snorkelling it was so cool. I really liked when it got deep enough for me to dive down and get  closer to the fish and corals.
After out snorkelling we went on this glass bottom boat. It was awesome, but I liked the snorkelling better. You got to see lots of fish when we got to the place were they feed the fish. It was nearly the end of the tour when we saw a green sea turtle. His name was squirt and he was the cutest thing I have ever seen.
When we were leaving we saw 2 turtles. They were logger head turtles. I have never seen one in the wild before. Well I saw one at long island but it was dead.
The port Douglas market was HUGE. It was a really big market. As soon as we had got into the market we came across this jewellery store. I got a necklace and a kangaroo made from shells.

When we were about to leave we went to the part of the market that we had only just seen. It was lucky because we got a tie die beater for Ry and lots of fresh fruit.
Ellis Beach
“OHHHHHHHHH he’s so cute” I said as I jumped out of the car and ran to the little dog. Even though I hadn’t asked the owner I knew he was friendly because as soon as I got close to him he ran up to me tail wagging.
His name was Squidward and he was a really cute Auzzie Sheppard. When the lady came up she told us that she bought him here because he was going to his first show very soon and could be a bit shy at times.
The Kunundra Train
After about 1 hour and 13 tunnels we came up to our first waterfall. We were on The Kunundra Train and we were driving right past a beautiful waterfall that would look amazing in the wet season.  When we were nearly at the end of the trip we pulled up at a HUGE waterfall that would blow me away in the wet season. It was just beautiful.

Sky rail
When we got off the train we pulled up at the sky rail. We went flying in pods over the amazing rainforest in Cairns. It was really cool. We got to stop twice to go for little walks that were really nice. At the end when the boys had gone to get the car I got a little Cassowary toy. It is so fluffy and 50c of the money went to protecting these pretty animals.

Swimming back from the water trampoline
 Fitzroy Island
Fitzroy Island was actually really different to Green Island. It was more like the outa reef. We got different corals and bigger fish. There was more space to dive down at high tide.
There was a tramp about 15ms off shore and when we were out there we saw a sting ray and that was really cool. When we were on the beach and mum and Ann Maree were snorkelling they got attacked by tiny clown fish!!
I hope you all have a good time on holidays. Until next time Taz

Taj 10 Cairns to Edith Falls

Cairns
We met Dylan at Cairns.  AT our first place we met a kid called Snowball.  It was really noisy, we only stayed for three nights and then we went to a beautiful place.  We were near the pool and we went in the pool straight away.  I made a friend called Jayden and the next morning I said goodbye to Jayden and we went to Green Island.  I found a big piece of bamboo and we swam with it.  I was in the middle and mum and dad held it and swam with me.  We saw green sea turtles.  We went on a glass bottom boat and I was first to see it, it was a giant GT.  We saw heaps of fish.  On the glass bottom boat we didn’t see any stingrays but we did when we were swimming. We had a big lunch on the boat.  I had some pasta and rice and lots and lots and lots of fruit.

We went on a Skyrail coming back from the train ride.  The train ride was so boring.  We went to the markets and we had lunch then we had to get on the Skyrail.  The Skyrail is like a coach that goes in the sky and ropes hold it up.  I like the Skyrail because I thought we were going to fall.

I didn’t like Fitzroy Island as much as Green island because there was no sand just dried up coral.  It hurt my feet.  We went on a big trampoline but it wasn’t a normal trampoline because it was in the water.  I got an ice-cream, the ice-cream was yummy.  I fed the fish some chocolate but dad said they wouldn’t die so then I ate all my chocolate.

Undura
We went to Undura caves.  It had a pool and a spa, they were both nice.  We went to the caves on a tour.  I liked it.  I liked going into the caves and there was one where you couldn’t go to the back because there was heaps of bat poo.  Some of the caves had water in them.  The water was so cold that I didn’t even want to swim in it.

Karumba
We found about 100 green tree frogs at Karumba.  Ryley and Tamsyn had heaps of friends but I had not even one.  I tried to make friends but I couldn’t.  And the CATS WON.  When we were fishing we saw a croc.  It didn’t scare me because it was far out and then he went out further.  I tried catching fish but I caught absolutely nothing.  I was angry.

At Mataranka springs.  There were heaps of springs we went to two of them one of them had heaps of bats around it and the other one stunk.  Pretty much both of them stunk and Tamsyn got pooped on by a bat.  We went to Rainbow springs, it was deep, it was taller than our classroom roof but not as big as the stadium.  We saw no fish in it but at the other one we caught heaps of fish by hands.  We swam twice all the way down Bitter Springs but there’s two stops.  It was a long way to swim.  At the end there was a bridge that said no jumping but everyone jumped in, it was a pretty stupid sign to put there because there was a big ladder.  Everyone didn’t care about the no jumping sign.  I bombed strangers and I bombed Tamsyn and Ryley.
I put a thong on the thong tree at Daly Waters Pub

Edith Falls
Now we’re at Edith Falls.  We went to two fall places.  The second one we went to we saw a water monitor. It was cool.  We all thought it was a water dragon or goanna but we were all wrong it was a water monitor.  We made friends there too.  It was really fun because we got to swim in huge big pools.  The water was quite warm but it wasn’t hot springs.  The weather at night was very very very hot.

I like to bomb people in all the water holes we swim in. Dad thinks it funny, but mum sometimes gets cross.

This is me doing my butt cheek dance after bombimg some Poms.
I did a tour of Katherine Gorge and swam in the water holes then I just stayed in my undies for the rest of the tour.

Ry's Report Cairns- Mataranka

We pulled up at Newell beach and the pool was right behind our caravan we went for swims all the time.  We drove down to the Daintree River to do a croc tour.  We saw one croc, a female; she was about 3m long.  The boat driver scared me with his fake croc.  We snuck up behind me when we were on the boat and snuck it under my arm.  I jumped in fright but then started to laugh.  Everyone on the boat was laughing too.  We also saw a green tree snake, it was really cool.  It was all coiled up and looked small but when it started to move it was really long.  The next tour we went on another tour this time we saw four crocs.  Before we got on the boat we saw a green tree frog that jumped, splay right onto my face.  It felt funny, I wasn’t expecting it.

AT the first caravan park we stayed at I met a new kid called snowball, and “no” it was not his nickname.  We also met up with Dylan, Ann Maree and Rob.  We all made a hideout and we found a vine that we made into our swing.  At night time we caught cane toads.  On the first night we caught 6 and on the second night we caught about 100, they were everywhere.  On the first night we put the cane toads in the freezer to kill them but on the second night we had too many so we had to tie them up in heaps of bags and put them in the bin.  We ended up moving to another caravan park called Caravilla, it was really nice.  We swam in the pool and Taj made a new friend called Jayden.

We went out to Green Island.  When we were in the boat we saw beautiful blue water which then led to more amazing light blue water.  Sitting near the pier in the light blue water were two green sea turtles.  As we walked off the pier we saw lots of different fish and stingrays.  Straight away we got into the water.  Tamsyn, Dylan and I swam out really far but it wasn’t even that deep. We swam around looking at all the beautiful coral reef.  There were lots of fish and we even got to swim with a massive GT (giant travelly).  A part of the tour was getting to go on a glass bottom boat.  As soon as we hoped in we could see a huge GT swimming under the glass.  As we drove along there was lots of amazing fish.  AT the end where you feed all the fish we saw a turtle that the driver called squirt.  He’s always here.

We went on a train along a big railway that passed a big waterfall.  We even got to stop at a waterfall that was massive.  We got off at the top of the hill about an hour later and went to the Kuranda markets.  Kuranda was a nice tiny town.  Most of the town is just market stalls.  We had lunch and then hoped on the Skyrail.  The Skyrail is where you hop in these big glass balls and they go along a cable like a chair lift.  You go up above the rainforest and then come back down into the gorges and walking tracks.  The views were amazing.  We called for a taxi on the way back down.  We were waiting in the taxi bay but the taxi driver picked up other people and just drove off so we had to wait for ages before another taxi came.

Fitzroy Island had a really cool water trampoline that we liked to jump off into the water.  The reef was more of an outer reef style with bigger coral than Green Island and it was much deeper too.  I got to swim with two green sea turtle and I got to touch one too.  There was no sand on the beach it was all dried up coral, it made a really cool sound when the waves moved it.

After dropping Dylan in Cairns to catch his plane home we went west.  AT Undurra we went to the caves.  Some of them had water in them and they were freezing.  I started a water fight with mum in the dark.  I started splashing Mum and Dad with the freezing cold water.  We went to a bonfire at night where a guy did a presentation called wings and things.  He taught us about birds and bats but he kept getting interrupted by a little rock wallaby.

We drove to Karumba; it was hours and hours away.  When we were fishing there was this croc that came by and we were fishing right at the edge.  Straights away we moved back about three steps but there was a little ledge so he wouldn’t have been able to jump up to get us.  We caught a catfish and 7 Dew fresh.  We caught silver and black dew fish.  We watched the footy grandfinal and the cats won no probs.

AT one of the freestays we met a bloke who was walking his camel from Katherine to Alice Springs.  That’s about 1300km.  Noodles the camel woke us up really early when he started grumping at his owner.  Camels are really really loud.

Finally we got to Mataranka springs.  We went straight to Bitter Springs and had a swim.  The water was coming out of the ground really warm.  I loved the springs.  We set up our caravan at Mataranka homestead and there were more spring there.  There were bats everywhere.  They would leave at about 5.30pm and come back at 5.30am.  They stunk so bad, there was poo everywhere but the springs were nice I had my birthday at the springs; I got a new fishing rod, iTunes voucher, money, a teddy, a book and some cars.  We went Barra fishing for my birthday but we didn’t catch anything.  We also had a swim in the springs; I had a really cool birthday.

Now we’re off to Katherine.
I’ll blog again soon.

Taj Tattles 9 Cooktown

Townsville
We saw an eastern long neck turtle.  We went to the turtle hospital and some were green sea turtles.  There were big sharks and Giant Trevally.  There was a sword fish and a big green sea turtle that wasn’t sick, there were zebra turkey fish. AT lunch time they got fed, the sharks chased the turtle around because he could get the food out from in the rocks and then the sharks would steal it off him.  There was one fish who got no food and then finally at the end he got a piece.  The fish only get fed four times a week.

Swimming at Paronella Park

Paronella Park
We went to Paranella Park.  It was a caravan park and it had two different waterfalls.  One was big and one was small.  We got to see micro bats sleeping, they had cute noses.  There was a castle there and a picnic area and a playground.  Nobody knew where the playground was so it would have been better if we could find the playground.  Then I would liked to stay there for another night.  We did the night and day tour.  The day tour I didn’t like but that was the one where we got to see the bats.  AT the night tour I got to see heaps of eels.  In the morning when we had brekkie I got to pat two eels.  It was cool.  There was heaps of fish there.  Some eels came out in the day but all of them come out at night when it’s there dinner time.  We saw a new type of turtle it was called a snapping turtle.  You couldn’t fish there.

Kurrimine beach
It was so fun, we finally got to go on the jumping pillow but it wasn’t pumped up when we got there.  They had a great big chess game and I played Ry.  It ended up being king versus king and Ryley won.  They had a massive pool with a jumping pillow in it.  The jumping pillow was in the middle and it was really cool.  It also had a cool playground and I learnt to do a front flip.

The Boulders

Snrokelling at The Boulders
We went to The Boulders and we saw our first cassowary.  I wanted to kill it because it is dangerous and I was scared.  But then I didn’t want to kill it because the girls said it chased her around the table because she had a sausage.  So now I know why people died from a cassowary, because people annoyed it.  We found a playground.  Ryley saw a turtle but I didn’t.  Dad got to see a fish but I didn’t.  I got attacked by green ants, I got bitten and it hurt a lot.  We saw our first bird wing butterfly but it was dead and I felt really sorry for it.  This is when I ate my first green ant.  It tasted like warheads, if nobody knows what warheads are they’re really sour and they make you go psycho.  Now I eat heaps of green ants.

Lion’s den

We made a big hut on the beach.  We saw a snake on the road, it was cool.  We made a new friend, I don’t know her name though.  She was fun to play with and we were playing a game where we got to put sand down on each other.  I was the one that stayed up for the most and I cut my leg.  We got some fruit off the tree, it was mango.

Cooktown
It was very very very windy at Cooktown.  We went up to the lighthouse and when we got out of the car we almost got blown over.  Me and mum went walking to a park.  Ryley got a hook caught in his leg.  I didn’t know because I was playing at the playground.  I was playing tiggy with kids that were aboriginal.  We played for a very long time.  I got to pick what colour was Bali, I picked black and blue.  We tried looking for a really really big croc but we didn’t see it.  We tried for three days but we were always too late.

Newell beach
At Newell beach we went to the Daintree and did croc tours.  On our first one we only saw one croc but on the next one we saw five.  They looked hungry.  We saw six out of the two days that we went on charters.
