Tazzy Talk Exmouth

Tazzie Talk 13
Exmouth was totally awesomeJ. Swimming with a white tip reef shark was a total thrill and seeing a Logger head turtle lay her eggs was really cool.
When we arrived in Exmouth I was really excited we were back at a reef. Here you didn’t have to go out in a boat all you had to do was walk 30m out into the ocean and start swimming!
The National Park
When we got to the National park I went for the gift shop. We got a logger head turtle magnet that now sits at the fount of the car. The first beach we went to was really good for little kids because it was really close to the reef.
The reef here is different and I didn’t like it as much. The fish were better though. There were lot of bigger and more colourful fish. My favourites were the big empires with the googlies eyes.  Dad and I swam through a big school of little electric blue fish and that was really fun I got to touch one of them.
Turquoise Bay
Turquoise Bay was beautiful it had 200m of untouched reef. Ry, dad and I did only 50m of it and that was amazing. The fish would come up so close to you I couldn’t believe it. At one point I could have grabbed a fish a cooked it for dinner it came that close to me.
When dad and I went for our second dive we did the whole 200m. There were a lot of different corals but they were still all hard. We came up to a big school of Emperors and we chased them. When we were close to the end I was looking at a huge red emperor, I thought that was what dad was looking at but he had been looking at a white tip reef shark that had just swum away. When we floated over the coral it was there, a 1 and a half meter shark. I was so excited, I had always wanted to see one in the wild and I had finally done it. I was at a spot where they don’t see many and I was swimming with oneJ! It started to swim off but then came back and was facing us. Dad pooped his pants but I was still in amazement!  I would have killed to have had a waterproof camera at that moment.
Returning to the sea after laying her eggs.
Logger Head Turtle
That night we went walking along the beach and we saw a huge lump in the distance. We couldn’t tell if it was a turtle or a rock so we stayed 30m away to see if it moved. It did move so that meant it was a turtle going up to the sand dunes to lay her eggs. I could tell right away that it was a logger head because of its huge shell and flat top on its head.
It had been half an hour and then we snuck up behind her to get closer to her. We were allowed to be a meter from her until she had stopped laying. Once she had stopped we were allowed to get as close as we want and we didn’t have to get too close to her because she came up to us!
She put her flipper on my lap and then I gave her a pat on her shell. I found it amazing that her shell was smooth.

Have a good week of school. See ya Taz
